After 12 years since competing in the ‘Premier 1’ division coaches Dean Phillipps and Deon Samson have been working consistently over the last two years to bring back the premier rise of the phoenix.
With support from manager Tenei Nio-Aporo and assistant manager Paul Smith, the coaching staff has been committed to raising the standard of premier rugby within the local community. Helensville rugby club has been in operation since 1971 and many members of the current team have been a part of the club from a very young age. We continue to encourage our localtalent who are interested in playing premier rugby for the club to join us and have seen an increase in local numbers over time. The team morale and dedication to upskilling have progressed since the end of 2021 as the team has recently welcomed core trainers Mark Macdonald, Kayden Singer, and Mike Vangrieken to assist the coaching staff.
Preseason training began mid-January for the 2023 season, with training sessions being held weekly, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6pm.
The premier 1 coaching staff is committed to fostering a team dedicated to represent Helensville in the ‘North Harbour Rugby UnionPremier 1’ grade, showcasing the homegrown talent on offer. Helensville is a small community with big talent. Our vision is to expand the club and create further opportunities for our diverse community to play in the Helensville jersey across all grades. The 2023 season kicks off in April and we will continue to welcome new players to our club.Your sponsorship will assist in promoting our club to the community and will provide much-needed support to those wanting to be part of the culture and lead by example for further generations to come.
